It's taken a while to reach Post 100, but here we are finally. Last week I spent some time revisiting two of my favourite environmental temples in London. Yes, I'm talking about the ZSL and the Natural History Museum. As always, that brought to my mind the massive importance of biodiversity preservation.  Twenty years ago, the Earth Summit in Rio resulted in a Convention on Biological Diversity, now signed by 193 nations, to prevent species loss. But can we tell how many species are becoming extinct?

The Government is consulting on setting up biodiversity offsetting through the planning system. It sets out the Government’s objectives for biodiversity offsetting and options for implementation, asking a series of detailed questions. The consultation takes the form of a green paper on biodiversity offsetting.
